Outback Road Trip

We recently embarked on an incredible journey, exploring some of the most serene and beautiful locations in New South Wales. From the peaceful Japanese Gardens to the adventurous Taronga Western Plains Zoo and the natural beauty of the Warumbungles, every stop seems to have offered something unique and memorable.

High on my participants bucket list was a visit to Taronga Western Plains Zoo. We started our day feeding the giraffes, saw lots of sleeping animals as it was a terribly hot day but this young lady and I were the last out the gates and had a ball.

Visiting the Siding Springs Observatory was a highlight, the observatory is one of the leading astronomical research facilities in Australia, and the area around it is renowned for its clear skies, making it a prime location for stargazing.

Taking a rest day to visit Crystal Castle and enjoy some op shopping was a great way to recharge before heading into the natural wonders of the Pilliga Wetlands and the therapeutic Artesian Bore Baths. The Pilliga region offers a unique landscape, rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage, while the bore baths provide a relaxing and healing experience, drawing on the mineral-rich waters from deep within the earth.

Our adventure through Lightening Ridge and Brewarrina, with a stay at Carinya Station, brought us into the heart of the Australian outback. Lightening Ridge is famous for its black opals, and fossicking there can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Brewarrina Fish Traps are a significant cultural site, showcasing ancient Aboriginal ingenuity in sustainable fishing practices. These traps are among the oldest human-made structures on earth, highlighting the deep connection between the Aboriginal people and the Australian landscape.. We were all deeply moved by the Brewarrina Fish Traps

The artesian bore baths, stunning sunsets, and star-filled night skies provided a perfect backdrop to reflect on the journey and the diverse experiences we shared. The outback characters we met along the way added to the richness of our adventure, offering stories and insights into the life in these remote communities.

Our road trip beautifully encapsulates the diversity and beauty of Australia, from its natural landscapes and wildlife to its cultural heritage and the unique experiences it offers. Each destination on our bucket list brought its own set of wonders, creating a tapestry of memories that my client will cherish forever. Whether it was the tranquillity of the Japanese Gardens, the excitement of the zoo, the natural beauty of the national parks, the healing waters of the bore baths, or the ancient history of the Brewarrina Fish Traps, our journey was a remarkable exploration of what makes Australia truly special.
