Always wanted to be a Queen

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

This young woman has had a difficult journey through life and dealing with those hardships left little room for dreams or even really knowing herself. Over many years working together we regularly use art therapy and intentional creativity to support her own self development and self awareness, support the new habits she is working on and uncover and bring her dreams and goals out so she can identify them and then we can work on them.

Last year we worked through Kell's ideas and honed her wildest dreams, during the process we created this board to make it a visual reminder and motivator and, together we achieved every single one. Having that board up was a reminder of all she has achieved and kept her on track while she was chasing those dreams.

Creative Care supported Kell to

- connect with community

-realise a childhood dream and run as a Jacaranda Festival candidate,

she always wanted to be a Jacaranda Queen

-become part of the Jacaranda Festival team

-visit many waterfalls

-attend multiple events including Bluesfest with 20 000 other happy people

-walk into Killen Falls after partying and dancing for days at Bluesfest

-enjoy a holiday and adventure with new friends

-perform in a fantastic theatre production and

become part of the Sprung Integrated Dance Theatre family.

- host and run her own event fundraising event

-run a fundraising raffle for Jacaranda Festival

In the course of the year Kell had many other experiences

that kept her busy and inspired and occupied.

- learned many new skills

- worked on friendships and relationships

-continued to live independently as a member of her little village

-faced some big issues

- was on TV, twice for very different roles

- was interviewed for the papers and for radio

-worked on her fitness and health

-worked on her blog Kicking Goals with Kell

- was evacuated twice because of the floods

and had a few other scary times when the river could have flooded

It is a pleasure and an honour to share the journey with this young lady,

and all of our clients, we realise very well how crucial our work is

to truly support them to live a full and fabulous life.
